International No Diet Day 2001 As told by Shazz, the event's organizer Photos reproduced with permission. Sydney International No Diet Day Event was celebrated on May 5, 2001. With a wide range of entertainment and information, there was something for everyone. Two fantastic fashion parades, highlighting 6 stores from Australia with size ranges from 14 right through to size 50 from one store. The models were fantastic and we used a good range of sizes. from size 14 through to size 34 to show off corporate wear, casuals, evening wear, medieval range, bridal and lingerie. Our entertainers were so good also. We had several singers on the night, one of which was my mother who refused to do it unless I would sing a duet with her. I thought I would have cleared the room, but instead they stayed and a few tears started welling in some of our friends eyes. We even had a bellydancer come along and wriggle her hips like you wouldn't believe. I did a few brief talks on the day regarding facts on dieting and size issues, and Denise Greenaway came along and did a talk on body image and eating disorders as well as a short video segment from an Australian current affairs show talking to kids about body image etc and Denise's Mirror Mirror program. The event was also the launch of the Australian National Size Anti-discrimination Petition. I have representatives in 3 other states and myself in NSW lobbying our State Senators. All petition forms will be sent to the State Representative who will then present them to their State Senators (all states at the same time) on a date yet to be set. The Sydney International No Diet Day Event videos will soon be edited and ready for purchase. Anyone wanting to purchase these 2 videos, please email me for more information. shazz@bigfoot.com
