Return To Anamarie - 2002
By Adela Martinez (Anamarie's Mom)

First of all, I would like to thank all the people that have supported us and helped us. You will never know just how much we thank you.

We still don't know what Ana has. For us, yes, we want to know...so we have a reason for her being overweight, but also so we won't be blamed anymore. Whatever she has is not going to change how we love her.

Ana has a lot of therapy. Mondays, Ana has speech therapy, she goes for one hour. Tuesdays, she has water therapy for one hour, as part of the occupational therapy. Wednesday, she has occupational therapy and speech therapy for (a total of) two hours. Fridays, she has physical therapy for one hour....that is in the afternoon, after school.

The last school year was very busy with her therapies and school. After going to the therapies, she would go to school for three hours. This August, she will go full-time to school and we are going have to cut some things out. She has been doing this routine since I got her back (that was one of the rules for getting her back). How may 3 year olds do you know that have that kind of routine? Now she is 5 years old. Same thing. Not all 5 year olds do this either.

We want people to know that she is not a child that likes to sit and eat all day, she is a very active. Ana is learning she is what some people say is "not normal"...but then again, the people making the comments and acting like she is not (normal) are people who don't know her and don't care to.

It's been very hard for all of us to try and assure Ana that this will never happen again (but how do we know it won't?). I still fear going to the doctor. Even though I sort of trust him, I don't think I will ever trust anyone any more. I doubt that will ever happen.
