While trying to stay cool in this summer heat, we ask you to grab a glass of ice tea (or of your favorite beverage) and read Without Measure's summer issue. In this issue you will find an article by Linda Finn on "Children And Obesity: Revising The Worldwide View." In this article, Finn lays out the facts to refute the belief that high-fat junk foods and inactivity is the cause for the world's children becoming obese. I ask you not to pass this article up, it proves to be very interesting reading.

Many of us in U.S. schools, over the last 25 years, have been taught nutrition using the U.S. Government's food guide pyramid. A few months ago, a new pyramid was released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Health and Human Services. Personally, I just thought it was difficult to understand, but Sandy Szwarc explains that this new MyPyramid is not only inaccurate, but it is actually putting all of us on a DIET! Check out Szwarc's article "MyPyramid Scheme."

Have you ever thought if the majority of people are overweight, the way the media would lead you to think, then why aren't there more fat people on TV? If so, then you can't pass up this issue's "Speak Your Peace." M. Patrick Doherty is furious about how large people are portrayed by the entertainment industry and speaks his peace in his article "Elephant In The Room."

"Pregnancy Without Measure" shares with all of us that large women can have babies. Kmom from plus-size-pregnancy.org speaks honestly about women of size and pregnancy. This article is well worth the read.

In addition, WOM interviews BBTeen summit organizer NaTishia Aromire, Kelly Bliss tells us "Back Up, Don't Beat Up!" and don't miss the special focus on "Dress For Success."

Lastly, ISAA and Without Measure would like to wish Russell Williams (of "Russell's Corner") a speedy and complete recovery. Williams was in a bicycling accident last month. He is out of the hospital and recovering at home.

As always, we encourage you, the reader, to email us with article suggestions and/or your feedback on this issue.

Wishing you cool summer breezes,
Grace Moredock
