What is Feederism? Simply put, feederism is the fetish-like act of encouraging someone to overeat in order to make them intentionally gain weight.
The International Size Acceptance Association (ISAA) does not support or encourage the practice of feederism because ISAA believes that this practice is inherently harmful and the antithesis of size acceptance. ISAA encourages size acceptance, which is respect for self and others, independent of weight, because ISAA believes that weight and size should not be a factor in how people are regarded or acknowledged. Feederism, in contrast, encourages and often results in increases in size and weight, often as a result of ingesting unhealthy foods in unhealthy quantities over an extended period of time.
Intentional weight gain for this purpose, without the benefit of exercise or healthy food choices, creates the risks of causing incredible harm to the person who chooses to gain weight (the "feedee") while the person who encourages the weight gain (the "feeder") often has no responsibility to care for the feedee once the feedee reaches a less manageable weight or size. This leaves the feedee to fend for themself when they may be in need of personal care by someone else. In some cases, the feeder's goal is complete immobilization of the feedee, who may choose to pursue this goal to maintain or gain the attention and/or the affection of the feeder.
While ISAA recognizes the rights of consenting adults to make their own choices, ISAA also has a responsibility to the public to encourage common sense, healthy behaviors.
