New President For ISAA Chicago
July 5, 2006
CHICAGO, IL - The International Size Acceptance Association (ISAA) has appointed Desda Ravanesi the new President to its Chicago Branch. A Brookfield resident, Ravanesi produces "Plus Images for Plus Women," a cable television program for and about plus size women and issues of interest to them. She brings positive messages to her audience with topics ranging from size and self acceptance to programs on health, fitness, plus size modeling careers, weight loss surgery and much more.
Ravanesi hopes to bring ISAA events and conferences to the Chicago plus size community that will inform, inspire and empower these men and women to be even better than they are today. She also plans to work with state legislators to amend current discrimination laws to include unlawful height, size and weight discrimination.
ISAA Chicago's previous President, Dixie Velasquez, passed away in late June 2006. She had been President since the branch was formed in 1998.
ISAA's mission is to promote size acceptance and to help end weight-based discrimination throughout the world by means of advocacy and visible, lawful actions. ISAA also promotes fitness and healthy food choices for people of all sizes.
ISAA was founded in 1997 in Austin, Texas. ISAA has branches throughout the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East.
ISAA has reached millions through its website, podcasts, e-zine, media interviews and public speaking.
